For me, indeterminate describes the core of this work, in which abstraction challenges perception. The picture moves in the space between light and shadow, between clarity and haze, and refuses to be clearly interpreted. For me, this work is about how our senses engage with the unclear and the intangible - how we are often confronted with situations that cannot be immediately deciphered, that elude our understanding.
The vertical forms and the sharp-edged shadows look like columns or walls, but they have no clear substance. They could just as well be transitions, dividing lines between different realities or levels of consciousness. The interplay of light and darkness reinforces this feeling of uncertainty - there is no solid ground to stand on, no clearly defined environment. The shadows suggest that there is a source that lies beyond our field of vision, and what we see is only a part of a larger, indefinable whole.
For me, "indeterminacy" is an invitation to engage with the unknown. The forms are clear and yet elusive, like thoughts or emotions that linger in their transitional state. Nothing is completely tangible, everything seems to be in motion, and yet a certain calm prevails in the composition. It is as if one is standing in a moment of reflection before a decision is made - the indeterminacy of the moment becomes a meditation on not knowing and the uncertainty that often characterises life.
This work is an expression of my fascination with the unclear, the unfinished, that which is always beyond our control. It invites us to recognise the beauty in not knowing and to surrender to the feeling of uncertainty without constantly searching for answers.
