About ‘Karoo Drift (South Africa)’ by shari-art

Karu Drift

“Karu Drift” is inspired by the quiet, rugged beauty of the Karoo in South Africa, a landscape that leaves a lasting impression with its vastness, warm earthy tones and unique tranquillity.

I travelled through this region myself, and it was precisely this first-hand experience that inspired me to create this painting. The arid landscape, the light, the traces of wind and water, and the many shades of beige, brown and copper have left a deep impression on me.

In the painting, these impressions converge in abstract form: shimmering copper tones evoke sun-warmed earth, light lines suggest dried-up riverbeds, and layered structures recall rock that has been shaped by nature over a long period of time.

‘Karu Drift’ is thus more than an abstract composition; it is my personal memory of a special place in South Africa. A work full of warmth, tranquillity and natural depth, which brings the atmosphere of the Karoo into the room.
