There’s a kind of stillness just after the sun crests the horizon that I really look forward to. On this morning in Le Marche, that quiet moment felt especially vivid. The light was warm but not too harsh yet, casting a soft amber glow across the hills. I remember standing in this tall grass, not thinking about settings or gear, just watching the shadows stretch and shift with the rising sun.
The composition came together naturally—the low grasses in the foreground gave texture and depth, and those cloud formations helped balance the weight of the mountains below. I exposed for the highlights to keep the warm tones on the hills intact, which meant letting the darker valleys stay in shadow. I didn’t want everything to be perfectly clear; the light and contrast were enough. What stood out most was the harmony of golds, greens, and soft blues—all subtle, nothing shouting.
