Subject: Lotus & Libelle is a colourful creation concerning two natural inspirations from Mother Nature.
Inspiration: Mother Nature is beautiful. She is full of diverse life and evolves nonstop. Every part of her, however small, is equally beautiful with its own unique power. Like, for example, the Dragonfly and the Lotus Flower. They both have their own unique value.
Lotus grows from darkness to light. It starts in the mud under the water and grows its flowers to the surface. There, its flowers blossom. This process is considered a metaphor for (re)birth, enlightenment and self-realisation in many cultures.
Lotus is much visited by Libelle.
Libelle is a small insect, considered delicate but she is one of the fastest insects and can travel great distances. She represents lightness, renewal and transcendence.
Materials used: Black ink and watercolour paint. The original was made on 250 g/m2 acid-free paper and is A4 size.
Technique: I like organic shapes and simple use of colour. I only let the watercolour paint flow inside the shape. It is surrounded by a white line and the black ink.
