This maritime, photographic nature shot was taken in the summer of 2009 with the Nikon D90 at the Baltic Sea in the seaside resort of Warnemünde.
Alongside Markgrafenheide, Diedrichshagen and Hohe Düne, Warnemünde is the best known of the four seaside resorts. The former fishing village and "captain's neighbourhood" of Warnemünde has become a popular hotspot for beach holidaymakers, cruisers, water sports enthusiasts and thalassotherapy users. Take a stroll through the charming alleyways and take a look through the windows of the lovingly maintained captain's houses. And Warnemünde offers much more: fresh Baltic Sea fish, majestic cruise ships and the Warnemünde beach, the crowning glory of any holiday. The 14 km long and widest sandy beach in the German Baltic Sea scores highly in terms of size, visual appeal and its lively promenade.
Rostock's 15 kilometres of Baltic Sea beach are - without question - one of its sunniest sides. Up to 200 metres wide and mostly flat, the Hanseatic city's beaches stretch from Warnemünde to Diedrichshagen and from Hohe Düne to Markgrafenheide. The water quality is regularly checked and rated as good to very good everywhere - this is also recognised by the "Blue Flag" quality seal and environmental symbol. And with the priceless view of the Baltic Sea and the gentle sound of the waves in your ears, you can relax in what is probably the most famous invention of a Warnemünde resident: a beach chair.
