New York City, a crazy city that I love to visit. The very first time I came here was for work in 1998. I remember that after 2 days I was spinning on my legs because of all the impressions coming in. Now, over 25 years later, I still come here but these days my camera is always in my suitcase.
This day, right after arriving at our hotel, I went straight to the Empire State Building. It was a short 10-minute walk and in no time I was at the top of the 86th floor. What a view! I stood here once before in 2017 as well, and since then, several more imposing buildings have been added.
The building has views to all sides but the Times Square side, here on the left, is still my favorite. Especially when it gets a bit dark and all the lights come on.
The challenge of taking a good and, above all, sharp photo here is quite big. Since a tripod is not allowed here, you have to have a steady hand and the iso value has to go up. Unless. you have a good alternative, a metal plate on which I could attach my camera which allowed me to shoot with long shutter speeds. For this shot, I made several exposures because of the big differences between light and dark.
After hanging around for about 2 hours, I called it a day and went back to my hotel.
I end up working on all the images I make at home because there I have access to a powerful PC and the necessary software to make this shot suitable for your wall.
