About the artwork

A nostalgic figurative pastel drawing inspired by painter Jack Vettriano . He painted with oil paint creating strong lines and angles. Have tried to somewhat approximate his style with pastel crayon but pastel crayon is a completely different medium. It gives a softer look but that also makes it a nostalgic painting. It's a bit mysterious. What is she thinking about under that parasol? Her butler is protecting her from the sun under the yellow parasol. It's a bit of a sad painting because you don't know who is standing there under that parasol lost in thought. Here, the drawing has been edited with Photoshop and converted to purple-blue colours that gives a very different impression. It is a woman with her butler in the early evening , it makes it even more mysterious.
