About ‘Neon Refuge – gas station by snowfall’ by Avum Studio

An ordinary petrol station takes on an otherworldly air at night. Bright green neon lights cut through the darkness, whilst warm orange street lamps and small illuminated windows in the background provide a counterpoint. Snowflakes on the glass diffuse the light across the image and lend the scene a grainy, cinematic depth. Amidst the petrol pumps, parked cars and dark buildings, the city still seems awake, yet at the same time strikingly quiet.

What drew me to this image was the contrast between the ordinary and the unfamiliar. By day, a petrol station is purely functional, a place where people stop briefly before disappearing again. In the dark, the same lights, lines and reflections transform the surroundings into something far less familiar. The bright ‘GO’ sign draws the eye inwards, whilst the majority of the image is swallowed up by the night.

The deep shades of black and green highlights give the photograph a raw, urban atmosphere. As a wall hanging, it fits well in a modern, industrial or darkly decorated interior, where the image adds both colour and tension without being garish.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
