In August 2021, the Staelduinse bos in 's Gravenzande, Netherlands, was teeming with slugs.
Once, Germanic people lived in these dunes at the edge of an immense swamp. Centuries later, monks left from here to reclaim the land. Then this forest became an estate and the private domain of nobility and harbor barons. And now? Now everyone can enjoy walking here. The Staelduinse Bos is part of the National Park Holland Dunes.
Impressive: bunkers from the Second World War. Stroll between the men's houses of the German bunker village, but do not go inside. Much too dangerous! Moreover, you will disturb the current residents: bats.
