Tips for use

About ‘Nyaung-U Township: Sulamani tempel’ by Maarten Verhees

De Sulamani-tempel is een boeddhistische tempel in het dorp Minnanthu (ten zuidwesten van Bagan) in Birma. De tempel is een van de meest bezochte in Bagan. Het werd in 1183 gebouwd door koning Narapatisithu en lijkt qua ontwerp op de Thatbyinnyu-tempel. De Sulamani-tempel toont ook invloed van de Dhammayangyi-tempel en was het model voor de Htilominlo-tempel. De Sulamani-tempel werd gerestaureerd na de aardbeving in 1975 en maakt gebruik van baksteen en steen, met fresco's in de tempel. Het werd herbouwd in 1994.
