Due to the dense vegetation of the beech avenue through Veluwe's Planken Wambuis, the rising sun struggles to get through the leaves. And it is precisely this contrast between the still dark forest road and the barely penetrating light that makes this photo spectacular. By rendering the photo in a black-and-white hue, a unique rendering of one of the most beautiful forest paths on the Veluwe has been created.
Apart from woods, heathland and drifting sand, this nature reserve on the Veluwe also consists of centuries-old farmland and several burial mounds. Around De Mossel farm, the farmland has been in use since the year 1500 and the area is closely linked to Rosendael Castle, where the proceeds of the lease from Planken Wambuis went.
