Porto seen from the south bank. Evening has fallen over river Douro in the Portuguese port city in the country's north-west. The famous Luis I Bridge (Portuguese Ponte Dom Luís I) is beautifully illuminated. The buildings on the north bank of the river form Portugal's second-largest city after Lisbon. The city used to be called Cale and later Portucale, from which the country's name derives. Porto is of course known as the place of origin of port, wine that is aged in Vila Nova de Gaia (where the camera is located) and exported from here all over the world really.
