Nature and all that can be found there is an ever-present inspiration for taking photos. But nature also inspires me to get started with paint. Painting is a particularly fun hobby and trying out different painting techniques is super fun to do.
For this painting, I used a leaf of a hosta plant as inspiration. These leaves are beautiful in shape but what is even more beautiful is that the leaves have a special relief pattern. This pattern can be felt and follows the lines of the veins of the leaf.
This painting depicts five leaves. It is painted with a smooth stroke of the brush: not precisely and carefully but nicely put down quickly and randomly.
The shades are natural colours. Soft orange brown as the background and the leaves depicted mainly in deep green: earth tones for a peaceful look.
The leaves of the hosta plant overlap and form an almost chaotic array of lines and colours. This creates an almost abstract look.
If you are interested in this natural painting, consider ordering two and having the second one printed in mirror image. The lines on the right of this painting will then flow nicely into the lines of the painting in mirror image. This creates a special and distinctive effect. You can find an example of this on my Instagram page.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
