Paratrooper drop Ginkel Heath.
This photo was taken on 20 September 2025 during the commemoration of Operation Market Garden on Ginkelse Heide.
Operation Market Garden was an Allied offensive in September 1944 that aimed to achieve a rapid liberation of the Netherlands to then push on to Germany. The operation was characterised by a large deployment of airborne troops to capture strategic bridges on Dutch territory. Since the end of World War II, Operation Market Garden has been commemorated every year in the Netherlands with great interest.
