Mill D in Broek op Langedijk is one of the polder mills of the Geestmerambacht polder, which together with 10 other mills drained section D of the polder on the Raaksmaatsboezem.
The predecessor of this mill was located at the south end of Broek op Langedijk and burned down in 1867. Because the biotope of the mill had already deteriorated, it was decided to rebuild it not on the same spot but on the north side of Broek op Langedijk. Because of fire insurance regulations the mill had to be rebuilt in the same place.
