An atmospheric image of the sun falling on a reed leaf. The reflection in the water makes it a double image. The whole looks calm and serene.
In the reflection, you have to try hard to distinguish which leaf is which. There is optically quite a bit of image deception.
The cool tones of the reeds, the mostly black background and the green tones of the duckweed create a play of colours, which looks mystical.
Little wonders of nature like this are in every ditch. You just have to see them and capture them in a way that suits you. In today's hotel-chic trend, dark colours suit and the art of chic is to keep things calm. This plate can contribute to that. You bring nature into your home, but in a very minimalist way. Furthermore, I used colour grading to emphasise the coolness of the leaves and placed a vignette so that everything focuses on the leaf.
The photo was taken near the Nessebos in Rotterdam. Just in one of the ditches there. I was looking for a special bird that might be there. But Mother Nature gave me this picture. And I am very happy with it.
Suitable for living room, bedroom, office and hallway.
