Sagres in Portugal. View of the sea through the fortress walls. From here explorers left by boat to discover the world. It is the extreme tip of Portugal. You can call it the end but also the beginning of Europe. There was a nautical college here. And in the fortress the guns were set up to defend the country.

From the Algarve to The GambiaI have time to draw and paint more after years of volunteer work for the St. Care Foundation The Gambia. Inspiration I got in the Gambia where I also lived. The colors, the population and life is a great source of inspiration. But also the quieter life now is inspiring to use softer colours and to work more with pastel chalk. But still it's nice to work in all kinds of colours and to try out new techniques and new materials.
