Panoramic shot of the San Francisco skyline taken from a waterfront pier early in the morning.
Due to the time difference, I was up early. Instead of staying up, I decided to pack my things and head out. The city was still quiet, the sky slowly turning orange as the sun rose. From the pier, I had a great view of the skyline, which stood out sharply against the morning sky.
I took my time to decide on my composition. Wide, calm, with the city as a silhouette and the water as a soft foreground. The light changed quickly, so I had to pay close attention. After a few shots, I knew the right moment was there.
As always, I work on my photos at home. At my desk, with the right equipment and editing software, I make sure the image conveys exactly the atmosphere I felt there: a city waking up, caught in the first light of day.
The result is an atmospheric cityscape that exudes calm and clarity. A recognizable piece of San Francisco, seen from the water, in a moment of stillness.
