Santa Monica, perhaps one of the most recognisable spots on the Californian coast.
I took this photo during sunset at the famous pier, with the Ferris wheel and roller coaster as iconic landmarks. It is a place that exudes both vibrancy and tranquillity, and it is exactly that contrast that I wanted to capture.

On this evening, the sky coloured in warm shades of orange and pink, while the soft light of the setting sun reflected on the wet sand. Because it was almost windless, the beach looked like a mirror, beautifully reflecting the silhouettes of the pier and the Ferris wheel.

What makes this location so special is the combination of beach, ocean and city life. While the attractions and restaurants on the pier are full of movement and noise, just a few metres away you feel the silence and serenity of the ocean. This balance between energy and serenity makes Santa Monica a unique place for me to photograph.

With my camera carefully set up, I waited for the light to reach just the right intensity. At home, I further refined the shot by balancing the colours and details so that the photo best conveys the mood of that moment.

The end result is an image that captures the magic of Santa Monica: a sunset setting the pier in golden glow and a timeless coastal landscape that is a real eye-catcher on any wall.
