The urban, night motif of my city Berlin was taken on 20 July 2014 around midnight with the photo camera NIKON D90 (lens: NIKKOR 85.0 mm f/1.8) using a photo tripod for the long exposure times.
This urban, nocturnal cityscape shows a fantastic sea of lights in the midst of the city traffic and the debauched Berlin nightlife in the East Berlin district of Friedrichshain. Cyclists, passers-by and cars cross the Schilling Bridge, which runs directly over the Berlin Spree. This neighbourhood is bustling with international tourists, night owls, party people and night-time strollers. With the technical support of the long exposure on a tripod, the night lights of traffic lights, cars and lanterns appear particularly colourful and have a star-like appearance. The effect is magical and almost surreal. Passing pedestrians appear shadowy and take on ghostly forms. A colour explosion of the finest kind, a so-called colour flash, for all picture viewers looking for a very special kind of excitement, this crazy picture motif is just the thing for their living room walls.
"For me, photography feels like really capturing the moment - like a kind of alchemy where time is physically captured."
