This analogue photographic image was taken in 2000 with the Nikon FE2 and a slide film. Both girls, two sisters from Cambodia were sitting begging and homeless on the streets of the South Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
The tender leaning on the shoulder of the familiar older sister shows the strong bond, familiarity and love of the two siblings for each other. Despite the simple and poor living conditions, both girls appear very peaceful and show soft facial features. If one withstands the gaze into the eyes of the older sister, one feels sadness and melancholy.
