About "Skagen Vippefyr"

by Urft Valley Art

About the artwork

The Skagen Vipperfyr in the typical, unique Skagen light atmosphere that once inspired Skagen artists such as Holger Drachmann, Michael Ancher, P. S. Krøyer and Christian Krohg.....

A dense fog envelops the scene, offering only a faint silhouette of what appears to be a crane, a historic maritime fire beacon, amidst village structures. The warm tones of the fog give the photo an ethereal and mysterious atmosphere, as visibility is severely restricted by the enveloping fog.

The Skagen Vippefyret, on the northern tip of Denmark, was originally built in 1627 and is now a faithful copy of the original, restored in 1958. The fire beacon in northern Jutland helped ships navigate the waters of Skagens Odde.
The old fishing village of Skagen is also known for its early artistic scene and is located on the northern tip of Denmark.
