The Netherlands, Rotterdam
Anyone who loves architecture will be amazed by this peninsula. The most famous starchitects in the world erect buildings here. Álvaro Siza, Renzo Piano, Francine Houben, Norman Foster and also 'our own' Rem Koolhaas from Rotterdam. His 'De Rotterdam' is the most eye-catching. The three interconnected towers of almost 150 metres high together form a 'vertical city' with luxury apartments, a four-star hotel, offices, shops, catering, fitness and parking.
Among all the shining high-rise buildings, a number of them are reminders of the time when many Europeans sailed from here by steamship to America. Like the Cruise Terminal, where now the most majestic cruise ships moor. And the famous Hotel New York, where tough ship elements still remind us of all those emigrants.
