About "The Colour Beneath the Grey"

About the artwork

A woman looks straight at the viewer as she paints over her own face with a brush. One half is vibrant and warm - full of orange and yellow hues - the other half cold and grey, as if life has disappeared from it. Behind her a crowd of drab, colourless silhouettes. The contrast is unmistakable: the struggle between authenticity and adaptation.

The inspiration for this work comes from society's desire to be "normal" - to fit within expectations, structures and rules of behaviour. The phrase "Just act normal, you'll be crazy enough" is at the heart of this painting. The image invites self-reflection: which parts of yourself have you painted away to fit in?

The style combines pop-art-like lines with expressive brush textures. The bright colours symbolise vibrancy and identity; the grey for adaptation and conformity. The woman's gaze is powerful but also sad - she knows that beneath the mask still lives her true self.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
