About ‘The Grazer of Terschelling’ by Lex van Doorn

This tranquil portrait captures a Shetland pony in the dunes of Terschelling, where it plays an essential role in the ecosystem as a natural grazer. The long mane, blown over its eyes by the sea breeze, gives the animal an almost mythical appearance in the soft coastal light. Biologically speaking, these ponies are extremely frugal and hardy; their thick winter coat and fat reserves enable them to survive without additional shelter in the harsh climate of the Wadden Islands. The technical perfection of the Nikon D850 sensor captures every hair and every blade of grass with unprecedented sharpness. A work that poetically brings the harmony between animal and landscape into the interior.

Material recommendation: Direct print on Dibond (3 mm). The matt aluminium top layer gives the image a modern, soft look that perfectly matches the high-key lighting.
