You may be able to tell from my page that I have a fondness for Old Mercedes vans, and that's right! I photographed this Mercedes-Benz bus from the 70s or 80s while driving back from Chefchaouen to Tétouan in Morocco on the N2 in the reef mountains of Morocco. It was January 2024 and the temperature was as high as 22 degrees! On the way, I marvelled at the different culture and how big the difference actually was from Europe. That while I was less than 100KM from Tangier, the gateway to Europe and also the gateway to Africa. The White mercedes driving away from the supermarket indeed gave off a thick plume of smoke as it pulled up. Fortunately, I was able to take this photo while driving, before the particulates went towards the air filters of the Dacia I rented at the time. A characteristic photo if I say so myself.
This photo is ideal for people who would like something unique on the wall, as the photo does not immediately reveal that it was taken in northern Morocco, which gives the viewer room to interpret the photo themselves, what is the bus going to do? Where was the photo taken? Sometimes you just can't express what the mystique of the photo can do. And that's what makes travel photography so much fun, you never know beforehand what you will encounter!
