The old tree in the evening mist by Conny Krakowski

This artwork depicts a dead tree standing alone in shallow water. Its bare, twisted branches rise like a natural sculpture against the evening sky. The trunk is weathered, with a mottled light and dark texture; it is rough, cracked, yet still stands upright. Behind it lies a tranquil watery landscape, its surface gently rippling and reflecting the colours of the sky. In the background stands a second, slender tree in the water, almost like an echo of the large figure in the foreground. The calm, almost fairy-tale-like atmosphere is particularly beautiful. The sky transitions from a delicate pink on the horizon to cool blue and violet higher up. The water carries these colours further and softens the scene, even though the tree itself appears angular, dry and defiant. It is precisely this contrast that gives the image its depth. This photograph was inspired by the Geltinger Birk, a landscape where water, wind, old trees and evening light come together in a rather unique blend. Nothing appears smooth and polished, and that is exactly what makes it so compelling. The tree isn’t just standing there prettily; it’s holding its own. Full stop. The atmosphere is still, clear and slightly melancholic. This piece brings nature, vastness and a special sense of calm into the room. It suits people who love coastal landscapes, old trees, water, evening light and subjects with character.
