About ‘The prodigal son, Peter Paul Rubens’
The Prodigal Son, Peter Paul Rubens, (1618) The Prodigal Son is a work by Peter Paul Rubens. It is not signed, but historians date it around 1618. The parable of the prodigal son (Luke:15, 11-32) recounts the episode in which the youngest son claims his inheritance even before his father's death. He travels to a distant land and squanders all his money there. A famine forces him to survive as a swineherd. Forced by the emergency, he repents. He returns to his father, who grants him instant forgiveness.
