The Habicht is a special mountain, not only because it bears the name of a bird. It is also simply a huge mountain, freestanding, towering far above all its nearest neighbours. And then there are those very special days. For example, when snow falls on the mountains in midsummer and gives the mountains a whole new dimension.
That was the case on this day in August, when we were able to look across from South Tyrol to North Tyrol from the ascent to the Schneespitze and see this impressive mountain. You can literally feel the cold, despite it being the height of summer, the temperatures were around freezing point. And yet, or perhaps precisely because of this, the summit casts a spell over you; you could also call the picture: "The mountain is calling!"
Some mountain tours are like a work of art in which everything fits together and which will stay in your memory for a lifetime. And which awakens this longing to go out and experience the mountain world. Maybe next summer? Or maybe just in a dream?
