Everyone is familiar with those large wooden gates from Japan and this is perhaps the most famous, Itsukushima. What makes this gate so special is not only its size and appearance, but also the fact that the tide of the water periodically allows you to walk to the gate yourself.
In this particular case, the tide was high and as an alternative, you can then approach the gate by boat. So did the tourists in this photo. It was warm and sunny on this day, making both the water and sky shine a beautiful blue. A nice contrast to the red-colored gate.
