One of the tourist attractions of Copenhagen is the statue of the Little Mermaid, after the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, the world-famous Danish writer of fairy tales. The statue is located at the height of Kastellet, a five-pointed fortification, on the edge of the center of this city. I took this picture in the style of Martin Parr, an English photographer who aptly portrayed global tourism in one of his photo series. His idea is, that global tourism is a worldwide pilgrimage, with a photo of yourself at a tourist attraction as the ultimate reward. I was reminded of this series when, at the end of a warm Summer afternoon in August 2022, I walked along the coastline to the little mermaid in Copenhagen.
