About ‘Trees in winter’ by Dan Courtice

A photograph taken in rural France in the winter. The subject portrays bare trees in the background and frost in the foreground. The texture softens the image but your eye starts to pick up on the thistles in the foreground and branches in the background, slowly noticing the fine details. Overall, I wanted to take an ordinary scene and turn it into something beautiful.

My style is inspired by the landscape painters of the 19th century, with soft colours and a texture to give it a painterly feel. I try to capture as much detail as possible and use brushes in Photoshop to adjust the brightness and contrast, allowing me to draw the eye to a particular area. The adjustments are subtle but effective. It is like painting with light and dark.

My work aims to create a sense of nostalgia and romance and trees are the main focus of my work.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
