About the artwork

Surely the waterfalls of Triberg are the pearls of the Black Forest in Germany. During my trip to Switzerland, I passed this place and had to photograph this beautiful place. It was raining cats and dogs and it was pitch dark, perfect conditions for photography with long shutter speeds. This means that the image does not freeze but shows movement on purpose, as here in the waterfall's water that now has a milky effect.

The Triberg Falls, located in the Black Forest, are one of the highest waterfalls in Germany at 163 metres high. The upper part of the waterfall forms the beginning of the impressive cascades, where the Gutach river plunges powerfully down. This section offers spectacular views of the falling water, surrounded by dense forest. Especially in winter, when the water is sometimes surrounded by ice, the upper part has a dramatic effect that attracts visitors and photographers.

Photographing waterfalls with slow shutter speeds creates a beautiful, silky effect in the falling water, while keeping the rest of the scene sharp. Extending the shutter speed creates a fluid motion, making the water appear misty and dreamy. A shutter speed of a few seconds is often ideal for this effect, depending on lighting conditions. Using a tripod is essential to avoid shake and maintain a sharp image. This type of photography gives a serene, picturesque look to landscapes with waterfalls.
