This analogue black and white photograph was taken with my old Nikon FE2 and a black and white negative film 100 Iso. The film was hand-developed in my own black-and-white lab and then exposed on photo cardboard in the darkroom. The subject was taken in April 1999 during my first photo trip through the magical Asian country of Vietnam. This rural scene shows the surroundings of Kon Tum (province) in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The magical, huge tree sets a remarkable contrast of scale, the playing group of children with dog seems tiny.
The soft highland light creates a soft, mellow mood of light that gives the picture a harmonious character. The classic, analogue black and white tone conveys an elegant, graphic and timeless atmosphere.
In terms of colour and mood, this rural idyll fits perfectly into all living spaces and invites you to dream and relax. Man and animal in harmony with the environment and nature.
