Watercolour of Noorderhoofd lighthouse on Westkapelle dike. This tower, together with Westkapelle's tall lighthouse, forms a guideline. If a skipper keeps the lights of these two towers in one line, he will sail on to the Oostgat without any problems. This lighthouse is the first round cast-iron tower in the Netherlands. Making the segments for a round tower was more difficult than for an angular tower, because the moulds in which the iron wed cast had to be made by hand from wood.
