The structures in the sand are so fascinating - the picture changes every minute, depending on the position of the sun and the direction of the wind. This photo was taken in one of Namibia's great desert landscapes, where sand and light together create a spectacle of nature. The even, almost hypnotic waves in the reddish-golden sand appear to have been drawn by hand - and yet it is the wind alone that shapes these patterns.
The colour and contrast change dramatically depending on the time of day. Particularly in the early morning or late afternoon hours, the low sun casts long shadows and makes the contours stand out vividly. This photo was taken at just such a time: the air was still, the light soft and the colours intense.
Amidst the apparent emptiness of the desert, an unexpected abundance of shapes, rhythms and textures unfolds. For me, it was a moment full of wonder and inner peace - as if the world was being reduced to its essentials.
This picture is perfect as a wall mural in landscape format to bring meditative calm and space into a room. Whether in a living room, office or practice - it reminds us of the power of nature and the magic of the moment.
