A greater contrast to Las Vegas is hardly imaginable, but about a 45-minute drive from the gambling town is the Valley of Fire State Park.
You almost expect historical figures from the wild west to step into the picture, such is the atmosphere of this place.
In addition, what appeals to me so much about this landscape is on the one hand the dryness and almost deadness of the desert, while on the other hand it is a layered and very colored landscape. This is what I tried to capture as best as possible when making this photograph.
