This wild, maritime landscape shot was taken with the Nikon D90 on 3 September 2016 in the early evening hours on a magical sandy beach on the North Sea in Denmark.

Römö beach - swimming and beach sports
The wide and chalk-white beach of Römö is unique and impresses with its imposing size more than any other beach on the North Sea. It is the widest and longest beach in the whole of Northern Europe and with a length of 12 kilometres there is plenty of space for everyone.
The beach on Römö is between 1-3 kilometres wide, depending on the tide.
Along the west coast, Römö beach stretches over a width of one to three kilometres, depending on the tide. The largest beach in Northern Europe has a reputation as a dream beach. The gigantic sandy beach is pleasantly flat and offers every visitor plenty of space to relax and unwind.

The shallow, flat water is perfect for swimming for families with children. Further out to sea, water sports enthusiasts get their money's worth. Depending on the weather, the tide may also stir up some very pretty amber, so there is also a chance of finding amber on Römö beach.

It is still permitted to drive onto the beach by car on the main beach. To protect the dunes and out of consideration for bathers, there are now also car-free zones.
