SEA AND BEACH
In this album, you will find my mixed-media artworks themed around the beach, the sea, and coastal landscapes. In these pieces, I combine memories of summer days, the sense of freedom found at the beach, and the beauty of weathered materials. The beach landscapes are built up using various layers and techniques. I combine acrylic paint with elements such as plaster layers, pastels, pencil, watercolor, ink, and image transfers. Old boats, weathered wood, peeling paint, rust, lettering, and other elements bearing the marks of time become part of the beach landscape. This results in paintings with distinctive textures, rich detail, and a weathered, lived-in aesthetic. Some works are clearly recognizable as beach or sea scenes, while others lean towards abstraction. The combination of color, texture, relief, and aged, weathered elements gives each painting its own unique character. I find it fascinating to create something new from materials and surfaces that already seem to hold a history. The original paintings are handmade on canvas and constructed in multiple layers. Consequently, each piece is unique, featuring its own distinct combination of color, texture, and detail.
