About Marald Bes
Thirty years ago, I discovered what travelling was all about, and my interest in photography grew out of that. I came home from my first round-the-world trip with 78 photographs: the humidity had ruined the rest of my rolls of film. That’s when I promised myself it would never happen again.
Ever since then, I’ve been taking photographs whilst travelling – first on film, and digitally since 2005. A photograph from twenty-three years ago can mean just as much to me as one from last week, so there’s no chronological order to my work. They are memories that have come to a standstill.
