The house dates from the early 17th century, when it was owned by Adriaen van den Burch, clerk of the Utrecht court and poet, and his wife Cornelia Schrijvers. It has an extensive, well-described history. Until 1890, it was called Drift Wijk H no. 616. In 1930, it became the property of U.V.S.V. because of the tremendous growth the society experienced.
