About the artwork

This digital artwork shows two pairs of old children's shoes, carefully and realistically rendered with a painterly style and warm earth tones. The shoes are on a plain background in a muted beige colour, drawing full attention to the objects. On the left, we see a pair of worn leather sandals without laces, with a simple buckle and a rounded nose. They are visibly older and bear traces of heavy use: scratches, creases and a dull sheen indicate years of wear.

On the right is a sturdier pair of children's shoes, also brown, but with green laces and a higher shaft. These shoes look slightly more robust and functional, perhaps intended for outdoor play or hiking. The laces are loosely tied, emphasising the casual and playful feel of the picture. The green hue of the laces contrasts subtly with the otherwise earthy colour palette, adding visual dynamism.

The digital processing is remarkable: the image seems to be composed of layers and planes in different colour shades, giving it a painterly and somewhat stylised character. The shadows under the shoes are soft but distinct, suggesting a light source from the top right.

This artwork evokes a sense of nostalgia and transience. The children's shoes symbolise youth, growth and memories of a bygone era. Through the use of warm colours and the tactile texture of the digital brushstrokes, the artist manages to create an emotional depth, despite the seemingly simple subject matter. The result is an intimate and powerful image that invites reflection.
