About the artwork

This impressive picture shows an abandoned room with dilapidated bunk beds, completely scarred by time and nature. The former sleeping places are covered in dirt, moss and decay, and the mattresses have disintegrated as if they have not seen human contact for years. The wall behind the beds is covered in an intense green colour, showing the traces of damp and moss growth. Nature has begun to reclaim this space completely.

The light streaming in through the window illuminates the scene and reinforces the feeling of abandonment and decay. The wallpaper on the walls has peeled off and mould is slowly spreading across the formerly used furniture. Scattered on the floor are things that were once part of daily life in this room. The window, through which you can look out onto the overgrown outside world, symbolises the slow merging of nature and humanity that is taking place in this lost place.

The room, once a place of peace and security, is now silent and firmly in the grip of nature. The bunk beds, once perhaps used by children or labourers, now look like abandoned relics of a bygone era. This picture captures the transience of human existence and impressively shows how quickly nature can reclaim its space.
