I'll tell you a secret: I don't particularly like autumn and winter. To ease the suffering, you can often find me in the Mediterranean during those seasons. Like at the time I took this photo.
In January 2022, I was in La Ciotat for a day, just to soak up the sunlight and take high-contrast photos. I love that too, and the French Mediterranean coast is a great place to do that. The sun shines there about 300 days a year.
Sometimes you come across the strongest compositions in the streets in places you don't expect. This one was just at a parking lot. The agave leaves grow on the street side. And between the shadow of the lamppost and the plant was a parking lot, which you can't see. By taking the picture this way, I created a new composition, a newer reality. I had to squat for it and push my camera between the bars of a fence.
And as for the agave, unfortunately there was no gorgeous agave flower, it was not in bloom (yet). The lamppost as it were takes over the function of the flower!
