With this work, I want to do more than just brighten up a wall. Astronaut of Love and Peace is a visual appeal for compassion, peace and humanity at a time when the world often feels like it is on fire. Here, the astronaut - normally an icon of progress and exploration - becomes a bearer of a simple but powerful message: love is a choice, so is peace.
His hands form a heart, a soft world map glows in the background and a dove flies by as a universal symbol of hope. The collage-like background with old newspapers, rough paint strokes and weathered textures refers to the constant stream of news, noise and opinions we have to break through every day.
For this work, I deliberately used digital halftone screen printing techniques, a nod to both classic pop art and modern printmaking. The fine grid patterns across the astronaut create an analogue, almost tactile quality, while the colours and neon accents refer to my own Neon collection. This creates a mix of street art, digital art and manually assembled layers - a style that feels both raw and refined at the same time.
Astronaut of Love and Peace is for anyone who wants an artwork to be more than decoration. It is a statement, a small protest against violence and an invitation to take a moment to reflect on what we can give each other: humanity.
