Basilica Sint Servaas and Sint Janskerk in Maastricht.
Saint Servatius Basilica is believed to have been built on the tomb of Saint Servatius and is considered the oldest surviving church in the Netherlands. The large, three-aisled cross basilica was built largely in the Romanesque style using coal sandstone, marl and other natural stone. The church building serves as the parish church of the Roman Catholic Saint Servatius Parish and is also the deanery church of Maastricht. Since 1985, the church has held the title basilica minor ("basilica"). The basilica is a national monument and belongs to the "Top 100 of the Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg" from 1990. The church, cloisters and treasury are open daily to the public and can be visited for a fee.
The Protestant St. John's Church is a Gothic church building and lies fraternally next to the Roman Catholic St. Servatius on Vrijthof and forms with that church a 'church twin' unique to the Netherlands.
