Unter den Linden is a boulevard in Berlin's Mitte district of the same name, running between the Forum Fridericianum and Pariser Platz. Created in 1573 under Elector Johann Georg as a bridle path from the City Palace to the Tiergarten, it was fortified and planted with linden trees in 1647 under Elector Friedrich Wilhelm. The development of the street, which is about 1.5 kilometers long and 60 meters wide, was built in several sections between 1674 and 1737.
