The Amalfi Coast, also known as the Costiera amalfitana or Costa d'Amalfi in Italian, is located on the west coast of Italy around 40 kilometres south of Naples.
The Amalfi Coast is a good 40 kilometres of rugged and jagged coastline on the Italian Gulf of Salerno in the south of the Sorrento Peninsula. The most famous towns on the Amalfi Coast are Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. The stretch of coast between Positano and Vietri sul Mare has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
