In this work, I portray an anonymous "Art Junkie": someone for whom all of reality consists of art. The face has been replaced by a transparent, geometric space full of colour and splashes of paint. That cube deliberately has something of impossible geometry, a nod to Escher's influence - as if this figure's inner world doesn't quite match the logic of the real world.
For me, this Art Junkie may simultaneously take on multiple roles. It may be an artist who sees inspiration in everything, a collector who is always looking for the next work, or an art lover who eagerly absorbs the images around him. Each of these perspectives colours how you read the cube and the world around it: as a studio, as a private collection or as a mental exhibition space.
The image is composed of two 3D renderings that I merged: a classic silhouette with hat and a glass portrait in profile. The motifs in suit and hat are based on algorithmic art - patterns I generated with software - and the painterly environment around the figure comes from ai-image generation that I then manually edited and inserted into my digital workflow. This creates a colourful, layered portrait in which identity is secondary to an overriding hunger for art.
