The Weerterbos is home to many red deer and hinds. They are easy to photograph from the lookout. Large numbers of photographers and nature lovers gather here both in the morning hours and at the end of the day to enjoy the nature reserve and all the animals there.
This photo was taken in late afternoon/early evening in early October. The light became increasingly beautiful as the shoot progressed and the colours of the red deer compared to their surroundings stood out beautifully. Nature has just started the "autumn colouring" and as a result, an awful lot of colour variations emerge.
If you are lucky, you get a red deer in the picture looking straight into the camera and then there is a contact between man and animal. That is a touching moment.
